Home Remedies for FLU Bugs

With all the nasty flu stories I have been seeing online lately this is the time of year I am scratching my head thinking…what can I do to avoid this mess? The sniffles start and then the watery eyes not to mention the yucky dry, unproductive cough. I am not going to lie, I have had a sore throat and an unproductive cough for like a month now…not fun. Luckily my kids seem to be okay so I will take that blessing and continue to pray for wellness in our home!

I just recently learned about this amazing thing called Elderberry that is supposed to speed up recovery time for the flu and helps prevent it from even happening? That is awesome and definitely a win win in my book. I am not sure of the science behind this but I have been told it works and I have tried it myself and it has worked. All Things Essential Oils

For so many years my friend Michele (young living consultant) has been trying to get me to try these things called essential oils but I just wasn’t a believer until I tried it. So I finally broke down and had a party. Since 3 people bought the kit I got mine for FREE… plus it came with a diffuser!! Amazing! Ever since then I have put lavender and thieves on my kiddos regularly to help prevent the yuckies.

Around this time last year both my kids came down with the flu and then poor Everly got RSV. For my little 8 month old this was very scary for all of us. She also developed a double ear infection and would not suck or nurse at all for me. You better believe I was rubbing all the oils in the world on her…well at least the ones safest for her. Frankincense and Lavender (the most gentle of oils), I rubbed on her chest. Next I would use Theives as well as RC on her feet. I would also diffuse peppermint oil along with lemon in her bedroom during her naps and at night. She recovered very quickly and I was so happy to see that she finally was herself again and there was no major repercussions.
