Monday Minute: How I Stay Organized EVERY DAY

Monday Minute: How I Stay Organized EVERY DAY

I always used to obsess over the new Target calendars and planners at the beginning of the year. Those hip, pastel colors and new layouts got me to the checkout line faster than anything. It never failed though…year after year the newness would wear off and I slowly but surely would forget to write in it. I would completely fall off the organizational band wagon and my to-do list would only exist in my mom brain of forgetfulness. So there I sat each year over and over again in the same boat…feeling like a disorganized person, mentally unstable, with my priorities mixed in all over the place. There went my New Years resolutions.

I Finally Found a Solution:

I know there are a lot of different virtual organizers but this one is BY FAR the best I have ever used. I recently was introduced to a new way of organizing my tasks by using a virtual To-do lists. I found out about Trello which has been a TRUE game changer for me. This app has kept me soo organized not only in my business but in my personal to-do lists as well. The BEST thing about it is that it is FREE!! That is right and let me tell you…I LOVE free, no more trips to target for planners that will just get thrown away.

STEP ONE: Create your FREE Account

STEP TWO: Create your Boards

I created 4 Boards to help me better simplify by separating my business and my personal life:

  1. Today: I put everything I need to get done under today like errands I need to run or chores I need to do. These tasks are normally pretty urgent so I look at this one the most during the day.
  2. Portrait Sessions: Next I organize my work load in my portrait sessions. This helps me stay organized on my workflow and prioritize everything that I need to be working on for my sessions so my clients will all be happy.
  3. Personal: I can put anything from grocery lists to errands here. Anything I need to get done personally or for my family gets placed here so I can just brain dump (this needs to happen often for my mommy brain).
  4. Ongoing Projects: I have this one unstarred because these are the tasks that are not as urgent as the rest but I still want to keep them in mind as I am going through the week.

Step Three: Create and Customize Cards

Once you have all your boards up you can create cards within those boards. Cards are like the tasks you can think of that need to get done within that category. The cool thing about cards is you can drag and drop as often as you want so you can place your priorities in order from URGENT to Non-URGENT. This was so awesome for me as I could finally organize everything all in one place. BOOM!

Step Four: Create Checklist and Due dates

I can add checklist to my cards here and the nice thing is I can use them over and over again, WINNER!! And same as before you can drag and drop if you just decided to brain dump! You can even color code things and add a due date to keep you on your toes!

It is as easy as pie and so so helpful to me every single day. I can open my app in the morning, check it during work on my computer and even click through my checklist later in the day on my iPad! The options here are limitless on what you can organize and the BEST PART? It is all in one place and I can access it wherever, whenever I need to!

That is It! It really is THAT SIMPLE! So give it a try if you like, I bet you won’t be disappointed!!

P.S. I LOVE comments so please leave one below with your thoughts and ideas :). Thank you!!
