Friday Faves: Our Favorite Bedtime Stories!
When it comes to bedtime we try and incorporate one to two books a night to read. This helps my kiddos not only get the much needed one on one attention from me, but it helps them learn new word phrases too! I know this is key to building those word blocks in their brain while they are learning so many words already.
While bedtime can be a struggle I am so appreciative of different authors who wrote books like these to calm down my kids at night. They really enjoy reading, especially my one year old (surprising!). She will bring me one of these and say “up, up!” I love getting to snuggle with them since most of the day is busy busy.
I know they won’t be this little forever so this special time has proven to have great rewards in the long run as well as at night. It is really nice to be able to wind them down with great books like these below!
I love the rhyme schemes in this book and the simplicity of the pictures making it easy for my kiddos to understand. They get really sleep while reading this one as it prepares your little one for a nice, peaceful and quiet atmosphere right before bedtime. This is a winner in my opinion!
Ayden absolutely loves this book and asks to read it almost every night. I think he can relate to this poor llama who is waiting for his mama to come check on him while he is trying to fall asleep. So many times my Ayden gets up at night because he is scared of the dark. I think Lama llama red pajama totally helps him relate the fact that he has nothing to be afraid of and mommy and daddy are always right here for him.
The kids love this book so much because of all the dreamy and imagination it is packed with. I Love You Stinky Face is a great reminder to my kids that no matter what they do or say, nothing will ever stop me from loving them. It reminds me of how much I am loved for who I am and not by what I do. This book really has a great message and I love the cute animal imagery for the kiddos.
Because who doesn’t like Dora the Explorer? Both my kids absolutely find this one fascinating as they make that little bike bell ring. They even get to learn a little Spanish while we are reading. This is totally a BONUS!! Dora just never gets old in my house and that is a good thing, haha!
Another great one the kids love to read is Elmo’s Favorite Color’s. Ayden loved learning his colors and I am so glad we kept this one around for Everly to learn hers now. There are so many different colors explained here and they end it with the rainbow so you can go over each one with your little ones. I think this one is super cute and the kids really enjoy it as well because it gets them to play a guessing game for each new page of colors.
