This weekend was an adventure to say the least! I not only was able to watch one of my closest cousins walk down the aisle and say I do buutt we ALSO had some pretty scary events happen on the way home. Although Everly was pretty content most of our trip to Austin I was thankful she decided to take a catnap on our way Saturday. She normally has big brother next to her but this time we decided to let him stay home with a friend so daddy could have some alone time with him Sunday. We had the radio turned up and plenty of snacks to get us to Austin happily.
We had so much fun getting to watch my cousin Shara get married after a long time waiting! They had been together for over ten years and finally we were able to celebrate with them on their wedding day! We spun our dresses around and danced our booties off! Everly LOVED playing dress up for the photo booth too. We laughed and Everly enjoyed meeting alot of family for the first time. OH aannndd eating their yummy fajitas (Our favorite)!!
As we said goodnight to everyone I felt so blessed to be able to spend time with my girl on our very first girls trip together. I know we will have many more because (and she doesn’t know it yet) we are going to be best buds for life!
As we parted ways with my immediate family (after eating Mexican for lunch of course)! We began our journey home. It was Sunday so I naturally thought about how much I loved going to church on Sunday mornings. I decided to put on one of my favorite speakers from Hope City church in Houston. I loved his message series regarding filling the blanks of our lives with God’s will. Before I knew it an hour had already passed. Everly was totally out! When all of the sudden I hear a really LOUD sound.
I thought at first it was the cars engine next to me. I changed lanes thinking I got to get away from this guy…his car is freaking me out! Nope. It only got louder and louder. I veered to the far right lane and BOOM. My car is feeling like it is out of control. I knew it was my tires. My heart sank. I prayed God would help me get back control of my car. Once I calmed down a bit and let off the brakes the car calmed down and stopped swerving. PHEW. I was safe. Everly was safe. She was DEFINITELY awake and upset at this point but I didn’t mind. She was safe and that is all that mattered.
As I got out to see what had happen I had many people honk at me to get back in the car. I know I was far enough off into the right hand shoulder lane that I was ok but I guess they were warning me? My tire was completely BLOWN! So I call my hubby first. No answer. I then call out to Roadside to get help. Of course there is no spare. WHAAA?? Yep, some of the cars don’t come with them these days. (CRAZY!!) I have to get my car towed to the nearest tire shop and it is Sunday and not many are open.
After waiting an hour with my one year old in the car next to high traffic I begin to worry…just a little bit. I knew we’d be okay as a tow truck was coming but I knew we were definitely not in a safe area. Anyone could be looking at their cell phone and plow right into us going 80. I finally got a hold of my husband and he said a prayer for me to get help.
Minutes after my husband prayed for us a Police officer pulled up next to me. “Can I help you change your tire?” I told him I for some reason didn’t have a spare. He offered to take me and Everly to a safer spot until we could get help with our car. I JUMPED out of the car and quickly put us both in his. What a relief!!
After searching and searching for a place that would fix our tire we ended up at the beloved WALMART!! I was glad it was open on Sunday and a place we could shop around while waiting. We waited and waited. Finally our car showed up and was FIXED. Hundreds of hours and dollars later we were back on the road again.
What I thought would be a four hour trip ended up being an eight hour trip! My goodness!! Even though it was tough and could have been a disaster I was glad to have spent some precious memories with my girl. PRAISING GOD that we were safe and nothing serious happened while we are gone. Hug your babies guys…seriously EVERY DAY!! And don’t forget to hug or thank an officer when you see them…they truly are our everyday SUPER HERO’s!
