Spring Cleaning! Marie Kondo style!

Getting it together…

As I sit here to write during nap time I am feeling like there is a whole lot of organizing that needs to happen in my home! We are not the cleanest of families and well..honestly organization is just not my specialty. Ha! I am a creative mind sooo naturally everything is more important than keeping my home in order 24/7. You know what I mean?

A couple years ago when I was pregnant with Everly all of it just became to much for me to handle on my own. I broke down and begged my husband if we could get help. Luckily a very good friend of mine had someone who had been cleaning their home for years. She gave me her info and Viola! Christmas comes EVERY TWO WEEKS!!  Seriously though, she is ahh-maaazing. I will never turn back to trying to do it all on my own again!

I have been so blessed to have help around my house on the regular! Never will I EVER take her for granted. Now I finally have time to breathe long enough where I can get our stuff together and organize. WOO HOO!! My home has never been happier.

What have I done so far that I am PROUD of?

Purging Clothes: A couple months ago I went through all our clothes Marie Kondo style. Yes, my poor husband (I love you). I made him put ALL of his clothes on the bed just like the Netflix series, Tidying Up. We got rid of shoes, belts, jeans and soo soo many shirts he hadn’t worn in years but was still holding onto. “but I wear that one to the gym…well wore.” He would say. Hahaha he needed to let some things go. I did the same with my clothes and my kids clothes!

Books: I went through all the kids books and separated them into two piles. They were called the like and love piles. Actually I think I just made them pick 10 which became 12 a piece that they couldn’t live without. LOL. I then went through all our adult books (a lot of mine were from college) and donated a whole box full! I was saving them for years hoping I would sell them but sadly I just never got around to it so I just cut the cord ;).

Fridge Re-organization: Today I went to the container store and bought 5 bins to make my fridge look more orderly. This was my first time ever going and as you can imagine it was heavenly. I kept trying to talk myself out of going and just doing a dollar store makeover but man oh man. I am soo glad I went. My fridge looks 100 times better. I got so antsy about it once I got back home that I completely forgot to take a before picture. OOPS! I will try and do that with my future projects haha ;)! But check out my fridge ya’ll isn’t it gorgeous??

What’s Next?

If I continue with the Marie Kondo method I believe I still have A TON to do!

Goals for the next few months!

  1. Papers: We are getting better at this on the regular but I know we still have a ton to go through in our garage.
  2. Miscellaneous: The garage has a ton of misc. items that I need to go through and either trash or donate!
  3. Sentimental Items: This one I am just not sure about. How do I get rid of sentimental items? It just seems wrong, lol. Help me someone.

Looking forward to hearing some of your goals for home organization this Spring. Thanks for all your ideas, I love reading them!!
