So it’s the 5th of August and on the 7th I will have been happily married to my beautiful, fun, and super talented wife for 15 years! I know, thank you thank you, congratulations are in order :). Thinking about how the time has past I start to remember how we were and how much we have changed since we first met. Its funny how we have both grown together. I hated coffee and Mexican food was just an occasional idea. However when I met April I did not realize that those two things were not afterthoughts, they are basic daily needs that much be met!
It is easy to laugh about the on the surface things that have changed us. But 15 years has really made me understand what I value most about marriage. “Doing life” with the one I love. That can mean so many things to so many people, because it may depend on whatever current situation you are in. Our current situation is a 2 year old with a double ear infection and croup cough. Added with back to school shopping for the 5 year old. I am sure your “doing life” moments may even be more stressful than that. However those are the moments you learn to cherish with your wife and family. When she wakes up and lays with your daughter for a couple of hours so that you can sleep. Just sitting with her after a long day of work talking after the kids go to sleep. Working together to achieve our dreams, whatever they may be.
What about Vacations?
Of course we still go on vacations and dates. Lets get one thing clear, I am not discounting vacations, Cabo and Cancun are some of our faves and are AMAZING. But those are not where real life happens. So whoever you are “doing life” with. Make sure you cherish every moment. Because we are blessed to have them.
Happy 15 Love, I have cherished making all the memories together! I am truly better with you by my side. Here’s to many more years of “doing life” together. Love you April.
