Hey there! I’m super excited to share the incredible journey of transforming my love for photography into a successful business that’s now bringing in over a thousand dollars! It’s been quite a ride, and I can’t wait to take you through the steps, challenges, and lessons I’ve learned along the way.
Passion Sparks Change
Fresh out of college, I decided to pursue a career in portrait photography. But, truth be told, there came a point where I felt stuck and frustrated. I yearned to break free from the routine and turn my passion into something more meaningful. So, I took a leap of faith.
Building a Family and a Business
In 2016, my family grew as I welcomed my baby girl. Despite the challenges of balancing motherhood and work, I managed to turn my photography hobby into a source of income, reaching five figures with photography and mini sessions.
Taking the Plunge:
Fast forward to 2019, I teamed up with Jason, and we decided to go full time into wedding photography. It was a bold move, but it paid off, marking a significant milestone in our entrepreneurial journey.

Breaking the Myths
1. “It’s not possible for me.”
This belief is a limiting mindset that stifles potential before it even has a chance to grow. The truth is, success often starts with believing in yourself. Embrace the possibility, take small steps, and watch how your confidence and capabilities flourish over time.
2. “I don’t have what it takes.”
Nobody is born with all the skills and knowledge needed for success. The journey is about continuous learning and growth. Instead of seeing your current skills as limitations, view them as a foundation to build upon. With dedication and a willingness to learn, you can acquire the necessary skills to thrive in your chosen field.
3. “There are too many great photographers out there.”
The world is vast, and there is room for everyone to shine. Instead of viewing other photographers as competition, consider them as inspiration and mentors. Each photographer brings a unique perspective and style to the table. Your individuality is your strength, and there will always be an audience that resonates with your work.
4. “It’s too much work.”
While building a successful business requires effort, thinking of it as ‘too much work’ can be overwhelming. Break down your goals into manageable tasks, prioritize, and celebrate small victories along the way. Hard work is an investment in your passion, and the satisfaction of seeing your efforts pay off will make the journey worthwhile.
Embracing the Truths
Contrary to these myths, we not only went full time in 2020, but we also became debt-free that same year. We invested $10k back into our own education, kickstarting a cycle of growth. Last year, we even started our own coaching program to help others on their photography journey.
Looking to the Future:
As a testament to our success, we are now moving into a brand new build this year—all thanks to our photography business. It just goes to show that with determination, dedication, and a love for what you do, turning your passion into a profitable venture is not just a dream; it’s a tangible reality.
So, if you’ve ever doubted whether you can turn your passion into a thriving business, let my story inspire you. It’s not always easy, but the rewards are worth every step of the journey. Now, let’s capture those dreams and turn them into a beautiful reality! 📸💰
