“Do not waste time waiting for inspiration. Begin and inspiration will find you.” – H Jackson Brown Jr.
As wedding photographers, this quote hits home! There are times where we are inspired before a shoot and there are times where inspiration strikes during a shoot. You never know what the cause of it may be. Sometimes it is seeing a photo in the back of your camera, showing it to a happy couple, and seeing their reaction. Other times it might be a tender moment, a first look or first dance with father and daughter. Whatever or wherever it is, you can bet, we are ALWAYS looking for it and it NEVER fails to find us!
Two weeks ago, we were blessed to be able to serve Madelyn and Andrew on their wedding day. We drove out to Midlothian Texas to Firefly Gardens, a gorgeous barn style venue. A quick note about Firefly Gardens. Aside from the beautiful land surrounding it that makes for phenomenal pictures. The back of the venue is all windows. No matter what time of day it is, the lighting is practically perfect inside. As the sun sets, rays burst through, illuminating the room, making it look even dreamier than it already is!
Upon arrival we went to go say hi to Madelyn first. She was in the middle of getting her hair done when we entered the bridal suite. When she saw us she burst into tears of joy. At the time, I was not sure if she was just happy to see us, or if seeing us made it a little more real that she was about to get married. Regardless, when someone is so happy to see you they start crying, you are instantly inspired!
It is funny how when you are inspired, nothing seems like work. Detail shots, getting ready shots, bridesmaids, and groomsmen pictures. They all seemed to fall perfectly into place. It did help that the girls wore scarlet red that made Madelyn’s beautiful snow-white dress pop in every picture! Andrew and the guys were also too much fun, incorporating some big guns in some funny pics. Everyone just seemed so full of life and joy!
After an elegant outdoor ceremony and even more dazzling sunset photos, it was time to get the party started! The beginning of the reception is about the time where one might start to realize their feet hurt or a little fatigue might set in from the business of the day. But then Madelyn. I mentioned she was good at inspiring, well just wait for this!
Right as the reception commenced, Madelyn pulled us aside. She wanted to explain to us why she had cried upon our arrival. “I was at Makalei and Tylers wedding about 3 years ago” she said. “That night I decided I wanted to use you guys as my wedding photographers.” Get this, she had not even met Andrew yet! Mind officially blown, inspiration officially back to 100%! Fatigue gone, feet no longer hurting! The rest of the night, a dream.
Andrew and Madelyn, thank you for the honor of being able to capture your beautiful wedding day with our cameras. Observing the love you both have for one another through our lenses was such a pleasure. We both really cannot thank you enough for the kind words. We could not stop talking about the impact they had on us the whole way home! Our hope for both of you is that your love continues to mature and grow as your relationship does. As you meet people throughout life you will have the same joyful impact on them as you did for us. Because of your kindness this wedding is one, we will never forget.
Until next we meet,
Cheers!
