When you are expecting your first baby no one really tells you how important certain things are and how unimportant others are. Feeling overwhelmed with joy and excitement it is hard to tell before the baby comes what you will actually be using most. As a mom of two I can now say I have learned what has and has not worked for us when it comes to feeding and sleeping. Certain items were a must in order to survive the first year and some items were not needed right away but I am so glad we had them when the timing was right.
So I decided to share our favorite go to items that we registered for before our baby was born. And also some we purchased after baby was born just because there was a need for them.
Everyone and I mean everyone who had experience before us suggested diapers. If you can even have the guys throw your hubby a diaper shower that would be ideal. We were blessed to get loaded up with a number of diaper boxes at our baby shower. Sizes should range from newborn all the way to size 4. It seems like the two sizes we lived in most were sizes 1 and size 4 so those are what you will probably want to stock up most on. Diapers get super expensive especially after two years of baby wearing them.
As far as brands went we liked Huggies best but for money sake we normally just went with LUVs.
I know I have shared this before but sound machines were game changers when it came to sleeping babies in our home. I had no clue that you would need something that sounded like you were at the ocean but when my boy woke up every other hour I was desperate. He still to this day sleeps with the same exact sound machine from when he was a baby.
This My Baby Sound Spa from Target was our Favorite and the same one we use today!
Unfortunately the Graco baby swing that we used is now discontinued so I don’t want to post it here but if you can get a Graco swing with a good loud white noise, they are amazing. My son used to nap twice a day in these things so you will not regret getting a good baby swing. Plus Momma’s arms get tired after a while so it is lovely to finally get a break and go take a bubble bath.
Ergo was our absolute favorite when it came to on the go places with baby. Anytime we wanted to pack up the kids and go to the zoo I always made sure I had my Ergo so that baby could get nestled in there and fall asleep. Everly loved the ergo as it would soothe her just like being in the womb. The plus side is you can even haul toddlers in this thing, amazing!!
Since I breast fed both babies for a year we rarely used bottles. It was nice however when we were night training to have my husband be able to feed the baby every once and a while. Here are some of my favorite bottles and sippy cups.
Since we went straight to sippy cups these Munchkin Miracles were awesome and most importantly spill free. We still use these to this day as well!
