A few months ago we received an inquiry from Cindy the owner of Road Runner Ranch Venue in Ferris Texas. She told us that she had seen our pictures online and knew we were the right couple to take pictures of her daughter’s wedding. April and I were thrilled at the opportunity to serve! We actually made a trip out to Ferris to say hi and see the Venue. It was beautiful as we knew it would be. However, what stood out more than the gorgeous venue was the kindness of the owner.
Cindy gave us the grand tour and then took our littles around the venue to visit the horses. Watching them interact with the animals while they fed them carrots was so much fun.
On the wedding day we did not know what to expect from Evelyn and Michael. We had not had the opportunity to meet them, they currently were living in Hawaii. When we arrived we quickly got into photography mode and started our routine. April started taking pictures of Evelyn and I went off to find Michael to get some of him. When I approached all the groomsmen to find Michael he was not with them. They directed me to the getting ready room. I opened the door and there he was, sitting next to two boys about 8 years old or less showing them how to play a game. When I told him it was time to take some pics, he said politely, “no problem, just give me one minute.” His priorities were not on pictures, it was on spending time with those that mattered most to him.
After Michaels getting ready pictures, we got some beautiful photos of Evelyn and her bridesmaids. Then it was time for the first look with her father. I went and found him, then took him to the location we had prepared. As we sat their waiting for Evelyn to arrive, he looked at me and said very politely, “do you mind if I just go in?” I will admit that question through me off a little bit because I knew it was not what we had planned. I stepped back and stuttered, “ummmmm, I don’t know.” as sheepishly as anyone could possibly sound in that situation. Then he looked at me and said with a grin, “I am really not much for rules” and went into the bridal suite! At first I will admit I was, FREAKING OUT! But what I had failed to realize, is that no one knows his daughter better than her own father. As April tells it, the father of the bride walked into the room, gazed upon his daughter who he was moments from giving away. She stood up and looked at him for a second, then exclaimed, “Dad!” Without another word she ran into his arms. Seeing the bond they had as he grasped her close in his arms was nothing short of marvelous.
Evelyn and Michael, thank you for the opportunity to be able to capture your love for each other and everyone around, through our lenses. You both were so joyful and fun to spend time with! Watching you throughout the day, it was apparent that you have been loved and continue to spread love to everyone you meet! Thank you for letting us be a part of that. Our hope for you is that as your family grows, you will continue to spread the love and joy we saw that day. You will focus on what matters most in life and cast all other cares aside.
